Goal
Ensure the Buy-to-Let (BTL) mortgage journey aligned with the Mortgage Application Experience (MAE) designs, improving consistency, compliance, and usability across platforms.
Buy to Let
Discovery
I joined the team during a critical delivery phase, with limited initial knowledge of the mortgage process.
Through rapid onboarding and data analysis, I identified inconsistencies between the existing BTL journey and MAE, particularly in question set completeness and field mapping.
Exploration
Working closely with stakeholders, I reviewed and aligned the BTL journey structure with MAE designs. This involved analysing data, updating content, and ensuring parity between both experiences.
Challenge
The existing field mapping presented issues with data gaps. Collaborating with Product owners, Legal team and Brokers, I revalidated the question set to meet both business and regulatory requirements while maintaining a clear, usable flow.
Testing
Working with a researcher usability testing sessions were held with brokers to validate the revised screens and ensure the form structure reflected real-world BTL application workflows. Feedback confirmed that the updated journey was clear, compliant, and efficient.
Outcome
The redesigned BTL experience launched successfully, processing over 2,500 applications without major issues.
